Watch: Why Configuration & Extensibility Matter More Than Ever
Video Summary
In this webinar clip, Digital Wave Technology CEO Lori Schafer speaks to Deborah Weinswig, CEO and Founder of Coresight Research, on why configuration and extensibility are no longer optional. They're essential for enterprise success. She breaks down what these terms really mean for business users: the power to tailor platforms to match your unique processes without custom code, and the flexibility to extend functionality as needed, without compromising control or speed. Whether you're a retailer, CPG brand, or healthcare organization, this approach allows you to move faster and stay secure, especially when protecting proprietary models and strategies.
Watch to learn why the ability to configure and extend is a key differentiator in today’s enterprise tech landscape.

Deborah Weinswig:
As you think about the benefits of an extensible and configurable solution, how does that compare with what we saw 5 or 10 years ago? Who’s involved now? What are resources like? And how does speed factor in?
Lori Schafer:
Yes—great question. Configuration and extensibility are two areas we focus on from a technical standpoint, and it’s important to explain what those mean in practical terms for business users who don’t speak "tech."
Configuration means getting away from custom coding. Our platform is highly flexible, and we can configure it to closely match the business processes of a retailer, wholesaler, CPG company—whoever we're working with. We absolutely bring best practices, but let’s be honest: every company says they’re unique, and they usually are in some way. Configuration allows us to tailor the solution to those nuances.
Now, extensibility is something different. Some of our larger customers, for instance, don’t want the software provider to have full visibility into all of their models or internal processes. In those cases, we give them the ability to write and plug in their own code while still working seamlessly with our platform.
So to summarize: configuration means tailoring the solution through settings and structure. Extensibility means you can actually build on top of it with your own IP.
