Aldi is partnering with tech company Digital Wave Technology to use an AI tool that is supposed to boost automation on digital channel product descriptions. The retailer said it intends the partnership to drive operational efficiency.

The AI solution enriches product data by extracting key product attributes from images and packaging, thereby closing data gaps to improve digital discoverability, according to a press release. Digital Wave’s AI Copywriter also creates SEO-optimized product descriptions and multilingual marketing copy, which Aldi says should allow for scaled content production.

Scale is something Aldi is familiar with lately. The retailer just announced it intends to open more than 225 stores in 2025. The retailer has already been in growth mode, opening nearly 120 new stores in 2024 and remodeling several others.

Batavia, Ill.-based Aldi U.S. has over 2,300 stores in 38 states.
